You work hard, you're kicking butt at your job and it still feels like nobody notices ? Here are 4 traits that will set you apart from your peers.

- Don't settle. There are plenty of good employees who are good at the process, but great employees are changing the process. Ask questions, make suggestions, keep tinkering with things. It could be as small as changing a form or a procedure it doesn't have to be a big idea, if you think there's a better way of doing things go ahead and explore it!
- Inner drive. Great employees are driven by something more than the job or the compensation. What are you truly passionate about? At the end of the day what are you excited about?
- Praise your peers. While praise or acknowledgements from a boss are always appreciated, hearing it from a peer is often more significant. If you can recognize your peers for their accomplishments, not only will it boost morale in your group leading to higher performance but it will also show your ability to recognize talent, which is a key leadership trait.
- Think outside your job description. Similar to pushing the boundaries, great employees go above and beyond to think outside their job function. Is there a new initiative or a new project that your boss doesn't have time for, why not ask to take it on? There's no reason why you can't be the one to take on an additional project no matter how small it is don't wait for someone else to step up to the plate.
